Forest of Arden Ploughing Match

On Thursday 15th September 2011, the Forest of Arden Agricultural Society held its annual ploughing match, this time on land near Sherbourne, Warwickshire. There are many classes of tractors and implements used, from horticultural to present day. Trailed ploughs and mounted. Here is a small selection of photographs I managed to take.

This is Su Sumners on her Ransomes MG2 crawler. MG stands for market garden and these machines are from the early 1950's.

NWVTEC Ploughing Match

Last Sunday, 24th October, in cold but bright conditions, North Worcestershire Vintage Tractor & Engine Club member Tony Latham organised the annual ploughing match at Harry Smith's farm just south of Bidford on Avon, Warwickshire.

Pete Summers from Sambourne on his Fordson Standard. This tractor has been in the family from new, it belonged to his Grandad. Pete attends numerous events during the year.

Willie Finnegan is a comparative new comer to the club on his 'Fergie' Willie is one of the principle organisers of the Birmingham St. Patricks Day Parade, one of the largest in the world and second to that at New York!

Forest of Arden Ploughing Match

Before the month of September expires, I have selected a number of photographs I took when me and Matt Bisp attended the Forest of Arden annual ploughing match, held this year on Thursday 14th at St. Giles Farm, Spernall.

This is always a well attended event and is an excellent meeting place for both visitor and exhibitor. Excellent catering is always provided by Sue Dalby, who is also the Secretary of the Forest of Arden Association.

Next year, 2011 the match is scheduled to take place at a farm in Norton Lindsay, nr Warwick.

Forest of Arden Ploughing Match

Today just outside the village of Haselor, nr Alcester in rural Warwickshire, the Forest of Arden Agricultural Society held its annual ploughing match. There were some 116 exhibits working over an extensive area.

This is a well organised event with display of rural crafts and competitions. The attendance from the public was excellent and a good time was had by all.

I have just posted some of the photos I have taken today, and if I have time tomorrow before going off to Bedford Steam and Country Festival I will post some more.
