Classic Car Meet - Moat House, Alcester

The last Sunday of every month, the Moat House, Coughton, Nr. Alcester hosts a classic car 'meet'. We visited to promote our forthcoming vintage gathering 9th & 10th June, Astwood Bank.

A lovely February day brought out some fine examples of vehicles of all types and ages.

Here is a small selection of photographs for your enjoyment.

A well presented Austin - Healey from the days of the Donald Healey Motor Co.

This was a wonderful example of a Austin Mini Countryman from the 1960's. Well restored.

Wow, a Pontiac Trans Am. Remember 'Smokey and The Bandit' with Burt Reynolds. A similar car to this was used in the movie.

I fell in love with this car as soon as it arrived. A 1950'S American 'Chevy'. Restoration on going and will become a HotRod. The original Texas license plate was on the drivers floor.

A 1936 Austin 7 Opal. Lovely car. Well restored.

This is an unusual example of a MG TD series motor car. Although right hand drive, it was built for the Swiss market and has Swiss specified parts fitted, including the traffic indicators.

A classic 1953 Ford Popular 'A' series.

This circa late 1950's Ford Zodiac MK II. Fantastic presentation.

Somerset Tractor Show

On the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February 2012, The Royal Bath and West Show ground at Shepton Mallet, Somerset hosted the Somerset Vintage Tractor Show.

Mainly held within the confines of show ground buildings, this is a remarkable show with some interesting examples of vintage tractors and memorabilia.

There was some doubt whether this event would continue next year, but we understand that new people have taken up the task and the show will go ahead as planned for 2013.

I decided to only take the little camera on this occasion, but here are some interesting photos for your enjoyment.

In the late 1940's and early 1950'2, Ransomes of Ipswich developed and built a range of market garden tractors. Not entirely sure if this is a MG2 or MG5, nobody was about to ask and I an not up to speed with this type of unit.

A Ferguson/Ford. Lovely restoration of this tractor and as you can see has some rosettes to go with it.

A fine example of a early Austin Tractor

There was a small but excellent display of Roadless Tractors

A fine example of a Fordson Dexta circa 1950's

A rather well used Ford 3000 complete with front loader. This is a Pre Force 6x Series model.
